All 8th grade US History students participated in our first PBL (Project Based Learning) Action Plan Summit in the library last week. Students worked in small groups to research current issues that are important to them, such as homelessness, gender equality, recycling, distracted driving, and more. They created infographics to inform the community about their selected issue and how our community can help make an impact. We had over 40 adult volunteers to give feedback during our summit, ranging from community members, FMS staff, and HCPS central office employees! Students dressed professionally, prepared a 2 minute elevator pitch to explain their issue, and then discussed their infographics in four, 6-minute rotations. Students then had time in the classroom to revise their drafts before creating online infographics to share with classmates and the community! Check back for a link to all final infographics! Great job, 8th grade!
