Fallston Recycling Initiative

The primary purpose of the Recycling Club is to raise personal and public awareness of environmental issues, including the benefit of reducing, re-using and recycling of materials that would otherwise be sent to landfill sites. To achieve this goal, the club’s main task is to collect recyclable materials so they can be removed and processed by a recycling company. This will contribute to reducing Fallston Middle School’s pollution footprint and raise awareness among students and staff of the benefits of recycling.

The Recycling Club features students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who help classroom teachers empty recycling bins on Thursdays. We are currently only recycling paper and cardboard, but plan to include additional items such as aluminum and plastic after winter break. We are working together to teach others the importance of recycling and how our actions impact our school, our environment, and each other.
